May Potluck

by Ed Oaksford
Thanks to all who showed up at this month’s Plant-Based Potluck and Recipe demonstration. We had a great turnout of 24 participants), tasted some delicious plant-based recipes supplied by our participants and learned a few tasty sauce and dressing recipes demonstrated by Robin Bateman, a TLH co-leader.
I know you’re eager to find out what’s planned for June. For those of you who haven’t yet gotten the message, June’s activity is a free online plant-based cooking demonstration by co-leader and Food-for-Life Instructor Linda Oaksford, Healthy Eating Makes Cents. It will be held on zoom on June 18th from 7pm – 8pm. Participants will gain access to the event through Eventbrite link.
Learn the connection between diet and disease prevention, budget-friendly meal planning strategies, and simple techniques for easy plant-based meal preparation. And here’s what you’ll get: a cooking demonstration of plant-based recipes, digital resources with simple, affordable plant-based recipes, discussion time, strategies for short and long-term savings, and tips for accessible healthy eating on any budget. I’ve attached a flyer about the event that you can print out to share with your friends and post in your favorite hangout. There will be a limit of 30 participants so be sure and reserve your spot. Hope to see you there.
I’d hate to leave you hanging without giving you an inkling of what we’re planning for July, so pencil-in July 18th from noon to 4pm for a fun-filled Plant-Based Potluck Palooza at FSU’s Lakefront Park. "The Rez." Wear your bathing suits for some serious splashing and a whole lot of challenging outdoor games. We’ve reserved the Renegade Pavilion with plenty of space to keep us out of the sun under the Oaks for our picnic.
So, there you have it, next month’s June activity and a placeholder for July’s. Take care everyone and we’ll see you at our events. All the best, - The TLH Leadership Team
